Our ability to communicate with others and outwardly express our thoughts and feelings is at the core of what defines us as individuals.

For people with autism, social interaction is compromised and communication is impaired. They are often hard to reach—and harder still is finding the key for them to reach us.

In Lucy, a mother struggles with her daughter Lucy’s autism. At the same time we hear Lucy’s inner thoughts, and her own efforts to process what’s happening around her.

Thirteen year old Lucy, who suffers from autism, moves in with her estranged, misanthropic mother. Having lived her entire life with her father, Lucy, as well as her mom, struggle with all the difficulties of such an arrangement.
